Sonata was developed from the same breeding program that produced "Classic", the market leader for elongated black eggplant. This Harris Moran proprietary variety is of a similar type and performance characteristics to Classic. Fruit are a smooth and refined tear-drop shape with a deep purple-black color. Plant is very sturdy and upright with fruit set under cooler conditions than most other eggplant varieties, including Classic.
